Sitting too long can kill you, even if you exercise.
We all sit more than our ancestors did and we all know that prolonged sitting is terrible for us.
Sitting too long increases blood sugar and cholesterol levels, decreases blood flow and oxygenation of the brain, creates stiffness in our joints, and causes muscle weakness and bone loss.
So what should you do if you must sit for work or for taking care of others?
Alan Hedge, professor of ergonomics at Cornell University recommends for every 20 minutes of sitting you stand for 8 minutes and move around for 2 minutes.
I am guessing you know how to stand for 8 minutes. I am also sure that you can easily move by walking, taking some stairs or sitting up and down out of your chair for 2 minutes.
But if you are looking for some fun inspiration to add some intention and to uplevel your 2-Minute Movement Breaks, here’s THREE great examples you can do along with me!!
